Road Trip to Casapsapan in Casiguran & Dinadiawan in Dipaculao, Aurora Province

Municipalities of Casiguran & Dipaculao, Aurora
February 10 - 11, 2024

It was Chinese New Year Day, February 10, 2024. We decided to go for another relaxing and fun adventure together.
The original plan was to visit Sta. Ana Cagayan North however, given the the distance and the time it takes to travel from home to the White Beach spot, we decided to visit a well know beach spot located in a neighboring province Aurora.

The calm, sandy and clean beaches of the towns of Casiguran and Dinadiawan are few of the increasingly popular destinations in the Province.

To maximize our trip, we have decided to stay overnight in the province particularly in Dinadiawan. Through the social media and feedback from close friends, we visited Casapsapan Beach in Casiguran before proceeding to Dinadiawan. We booked a room at Pearl White Beach resort in Dinadiawan for our overnight stay.

Day 01: Casapsapan Beach

Casapsapan Beach is located approximately 160KM away from home. It's a 3.5H drive via a private vehicle passing via Echague - Jones - Maddela Rd, Cordon - Diffun - Maddela - Aurora Rd and Baler - Casiguran Rd.
We started our journey from home onboard L300 van at 8:40AM and travelled towards Casiguran via Jones route. Something unique about this road trip is the chance to enjoy the zigzag and uphill highway and the lush green Sierra Madre.

Cottages for Rent

Cottages are available for rent. There are no nearby accommodations or homestay.
Casapsapan has both a fine creamy wide sandy and shallow rocky coral shore line. It was a very windy day. It was a challenge to get a phone signal in the area.

Travel To Dinadiawan Pearl White Beach Resort.

We travelled to Dinadiawan located in the Municipality of Dipaculao from Casapsapan in Casiguran at 05:00PM.

Dinadiawan is approximately 68KM away via Baler - Casiguran Rd. On our way to Pearl White Beach resort, we passed by the wet market for fish and other needs for the overnight stay. It was 07:00PM when we were at the main entrance of Pearl White Beach resort and checked-in our Villa.

The beach resort was full understandably since it was a long weekend. Many of the guests are from neighboring provinces Quirino and Isabela and also from nearby municipalities. We got a family room enough to accommodate us all.

Signal in the area still challenging and there is a coin-based prepared internet access. It was the only internet connectivity available in the resort.

Although it started to get dark when we reached the resort, I had the chance to move around the beach area.
Beautiful Sunset

Line-up of cottages along the sandy beach front. Swimming is allowed until 06:00PM, no available life guard at night.

Day 02: Dinadiawan

Dinadiawan particularly at the Pearl White resort compared to Casapsapan in Casiguran, Casapsapan has a wider beach front. Nevertheless, I was able to fly a drone at Dinadiawan given the wind conditions at that time.

Visiting San Vincente Ferrer Church - National Cultural Treasure

Municipality of Dupax Del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya
January 1, 2024

It was New Year Day, January 1, 2024. We decided to do a heritage trip to a nearby Province down south in Nueva Vizcaya.
San Vicente Ferrer Church and Convent
Nueva Vizcaya is the gateway to Cagayan Valley, the first Province coming from Central Luzon. Nueva Vizcaya proudly holds the title of the Citrus Capital of the Philippines, thanks to its bountiful selection of fresh citrus fruits, ranging from ponkans and oranges to honeydew and pomelo.

Kasibu, a town within Nueva Vizcaya renowned for its citrus agriculture, is home to sprawling citrus farms and orchards. Never did I expect to find Durian and Marang in this Province until I have tried tasting both fruits in Aritao.
Dupax Del Sur
From our home town, we travelled onboard our L300 van a hundred kilometers to the Municipality of Dupax Del Sur where San Vicente Ferrer church and convent is Located.

The San Vicente Ferrer Parish Church (Filipino: Simbahan ng Parokya ni San Vicente Ferrer; Spanish: Iglesia Parroquial de San Vicente Ferrer), commonly referred to as Dupax Church or Dupax del Sur Church, is an 18th-century Baroque Roman Catholic church located at Brgy. Dopaj, Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. The parish church, under the advocation of Saint Vincent Ferrer, is under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bayombong. The church complex has been declared a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines in July 2001.

It was a two and a half drive down south passing by lush green and scenic landscapes along the Municipalities of Cordon, Diadi, Bagabag, Solano, Bayombong and Bambang. We reached Dupax Del Sur around 1600H and the church and convent was closed. We parked inside the convent courtyard and had a picnic.
The church is considered a National Cultural Treasure. Unlike those in the Ilocos Provinces, it may not be a World Heritage Site but nevertheless, we marveled at its baroque architecture very thankful of the very peaceful surroundings. It was a an excellent way to start the year - visiting a place of worship and a Cultural Treasure at the same time and enjoying the serenity of the lush green landscapes along the way.

Concluded our road trip with a taste of Bagabag Buko Pie.
